Marsha Blackburn launched her run for Tennessee governor with a new slogan: help is on the way. Her campaign ad, released Sept. 28, 2026, closes on that line. Republicans have held a Tennessee trifecta, the governorship and both chambers of the legislature, for 15 years.
The line has a history. Sen. John Kerry built his 2004 presidential run on the same words. This video puts the two back to back: Blackburn's ad first, then Kerry at the 2004 Democratic National Convention and in the first presidential debate that fall.
